Programs in operation include:
The Adult Substance Abuse Program provides substance abuse treatment to both men and
women through our outpatient offices in both North and South Miami-Dade
County. This program helps individuals to disconnect form the cycle of
substance abuse and begin a predictive lifestyle. Agape assists the
individual in working through the various stages of recovery to become
the best that they can be with motivation, determination, and positive
living.
There are five levels of treatment within this program:
- Substance
Abuse Education - Participants are required to fulfill 8-12
educational group sessions (depending on client need), held one time
per week.
- Outpatient
Substance Abuse Treatment - This is a 16-week program which consists
of outpatient substance abuse counseling one time per week and
individual counseling 10-16 sessions over the duration of the
program (determined according to client's need).
- Intensive
Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment - This is also a sixteen-week
program in which clients receive outpatient substance abuse
counseling and individual therapy. Participants on this level must
attend groups two times per week (32 total) and 10-16 individual
sessions (determined by therapist according to need).
- Aftercare
- This is a group which meets weekly and is focused on preventing
relapse while providing support to clients who have graduated from
levels II or III. Clients will attend 8-12 sessions before completion.
Services
are funded through contracts with the Department of Corrections, Medicaid
Insurance, and a sliding fee scale.
Outpatient Therapy provides mental health treatment to children and
adults of both genders through our outpatient offices in both North and
South Miami-Dade County. This program helps individuals to identify and
manage problems or symptoms that they are facing in their lives. Some
problems which are addressed include: depression, anxiety, anger
management, coping with loss, marital or relationship difficulties, abuse
and neglect, trauma, or emotional/behavioral problems with children.
Services are individualized according to each client but include
individual and/or family therapies. Counselors are assigned according to
specialization and client comfort. Services are funded through Medicaid
Insurance, a sliding fee scale, and grant funded programs.
Intensive Therapeutic On-Site Services are offered to children and
adolescents within their homes or schools. Treatment includes individual
and family therapies, behavior modification, and individualized treatment
planning. Clients referred to this program must meet criteria for services
and have Medicaid Insurance. These children will receive assessment,
individualized treatment planning, and individual or family therapy a
minimum of one time per week and up to five times per week, depending on
client need. Agape operates a program in partnership with Holy Rosary
Catholic Schools (in Perrine) which places a full time therapist on-site
at the school to work with special education students who qualify. As
families are willing, these students also receive services at home.
Intensive therapeutic on-site services are not limited to Holy Rosary
students and their families but are offered to any Medicaid enrolled
child who qualifies and requires services. Agape offers 24 hour crisis
intervention and on call availability as a support to children and
families in treatment.
The Agape Community Based Counselor Program has a full time counselor and support staff placed
full time at South Dade High School to work with at-risk adolescent
girls. This is a grant-funded program by the Department of Juvenile
Justice. Girls receive 12-16 weeks of individual, group, and family
therapies, as well as case management, expressive arts intervention,
field trips, health education, and incentives for success. Girls may be
referred through any agency, school personnel, parent, or concerned
party. They must meet risk factors pertaining to rebelliousness (i.e.,
defiance, disrespectful, breaking rules or the law), favorable attitudes
towards negative behaviors (i.e., gang association/affiliation,
identification with negative peers, thinks drug/alcohol use is cool),
early and persistent problem behaviors (i.e., drug/alcohol/cigarette use,
running away, can't control anger, fighting, isolation, unsafe sexual
practices), or lack of commitment to school (i.e., dislikes school,
suspensions, low grades, truancy, unmotivated).
